John Chapman, President, And Founder Of JASA Know Firsthand How A Family Can Easily Fall Into The Scary Life Of Being Homeless. He Looked Into Every Opportunity To Change Things For His Girls To Have A Stable Home Once Again. John Believes Everyone Deserves A Helping Hand As A Boost Toward Their Productivity. John Wants Others To Have The Opportunity To Be Helped, Trained, Educated, And Steered Toward The Independence To Sustain Their Family As He Has. Thus, The Idea Of The Johnny Apple Seed Association, Inc. Was Born.
John Chapman (1774-1845) Was Known As Johnny Appleseed Because He Walked Across The United States Planting His Apple Seeds And Making A Difference In People’s Lives Ensuring That Those Seeds Would Grow Trees With Apples To Feed People In The Area. Same Name Different Century And Man. John Started JASA With A Yearning Of “Sowing The Seed To Those In Need”. JASA Is A Non-Profit Organization With Helps The Area’s Veterans And Needy Families And Individuals In Mind. JASA‘s Goal Is To Encourage Their Clients To Strive To Gain Independence And Self-Confidence To Sustain Themselves Financially In The Near Future.
In 2014 JASA Worked Together With Several Veteran Associations To Have Fundraisers That Enabled Us To Feed, Clothe, And Find Housing For Some Of Our Veterans In Need. We Also Continue To Host Our Annual Christmas Toy Distribution To Veteran And Area Needy Children. The Children At Area Shelters Are Delighted When Our Santa Claus Brings Them Toys For The Christmas Season. We Have Hosted Many BBQs At Area Homeless Tent Cities. Many Homeless Count On Us For A Hot Meal That Day. We Have Distributed Turkeys And Other Meats To Many Of Our Veteran Client Families.
In 2015 We Acquired A Mobile Unit To Take Into Areas Where Many Clients Needing Jobs Can Come Aboard To Use Our Computers To Seek Employment Possibilities. The Mobile Unit Was Also Used To Host Classes To Educate Our Clients According To Their Needs. JASA Realized We Have Outgrown Our Mobile Unit Due To The Great Need For Space For All The Needs Of Our Veteran And Area Clients. Our Falls Church Office Opened In January 2016. We Had A Classroom With Desks, Chairs & Computers. The Classroom Is Equipped For Our Many Volunteer Teachers To Educate Our Clients.
